Highland Park Neighborhood Home

Pat Dilbeck, the widow of famous architect Charles Dilbeck, told me that her husband said he was designing her a home in 1970 that she would be able to sell upon his death. He purposely told her he did not design a "Dilbeck" for her but one with a fashionable mansard roof. Mansard roofs quickly went out of style and "Dilbeck" style homes remain beloved. As a result, Mrs. Dilbeck told me that "Of course my home will be torn down," because it is the only "non-Dilbeck" home Charles Dilbeck designed. Indeed it was torn down and replaced with this two-story Highland Park home designed in 2008.
