4331 Travis Street, Dallas, Texas
Town House Modern – Sold by Douglas Newby
Lionel Morrison received an AIA Honor Award for this 3,600 square-foot Travis townhouse located a block from Knox Street and Travis Walk that he designed in 1999. Now it is even better. The CEO and managing partner of a leading national design oriented architectural firm, totally renovated the space, making it structurally and aesthetically sleeker, the environment greener, and the space even more inviting.

A Serene Space in a Vibrant Neighborhood
![4331 Travis Street, Dallas, Texas](https://architecturallysignificant.dougnewby.com/wp-content/uploads/37928/Travis-4331-JW-_26.jpg)
A few blocks of Dallas’s most vibrant blocks surround this Travis location. Among them are Knox/Henderson, the Katy Trail, and Turtle Creek.
Inconspicuously placed on Travis Street, there is a sense you are immersed in an urban forest as you enter the collection of four Lionel Morrison-designed townhouses framing a courtyard. Entering the front door of the residence you will immediately feel the secure and serene environment of this modern AIA award-winning townhouse designed by architect Lionel Morrison, FAIA. Also at the entrance are sightlines to walled outdoor rooms that are as enticing as the interior spaces.
Master Bedroom on First Floor Opens to Nature
![4331 Travis Street, Dallas, Texas](https://architecturallysignificant.dougnewby.com/wp-content/uploads/37928/Travis-4331-JW-_05.jpg)
On the first floor is the master bedroom, a quiet space that opens to the outdoor rooms framed by 35-foot tall magnolias and Savannah hollies.
Master Bathroom Enjoys Lush Surrounding
![Travis 4331 JW _08](https://architecturallysignificant.dougnewby.com/wp-content/uploads/37928/Travis-4331-JW-_08.jpg)
The master bathroom also enjoys the lush green micro forest surrounding the courtyard. The clean lines of Lionel Morrison’s design and the modern materials selected by a prominent architect and his wife, a graphic designer, are even more dramatic against the backdrop of nature’s palette.

Floating walls give definition to the kitchen, living room, and library, while maintaining an open floor plan with views to a series of balconies overlooking the private courtyards. Tall ceilings create a perfect environment for art. Sunlight fills the space from opposite directions as does the well-placed narrow horizontal skylights. Elaborate lighting accentuates the art and the mood of the rooms. A hidden office off the living room also overlooks the forested courtyard.

On any one floor interior rooms look into exterior rooms. Also on any floor you can look up or down and have extended views into rooms of another floor. This openness creates a sense of intimacy no matter where you are in the home.
