Landscape Architect Harold Leidner Designed Landscape for 4400 Belfort Place

Architect Larry Boerder created an architectural rendering for his vision of how his architecturally significant home at 4400 Belfort Place would look when the construction was finished.
At 4400 Belfort Place, architect Larry Boerder designed an architecturally significant Spanish Colonial Revival estate home with Mediterranean detail on a nearly one-acre site. One enjoys seeing the subtle symmetry and balanced proportions delineated for different functions. Also, one enjoys the cut and carved stone ornamental detail punctuating the hand-troweled hard plaster over masonry walls.

Harold Leidner’s Design Approach to 4400 Belfort Place

Nestled in the prestigious Highland Park neighborhood, this architecturally significant Spanish Colonial Revival estate is a masterpiece of refined design and Mediterranean charm. The stucco facade, crowned with a clay tile roof and adorned with intricately carved stone details, exudes timeless elegance. Complementing this architectural grandeur, the meticulously designed landscape enhances the estate’s beauty while staying true to the principles of the Spanish Colonial Revival style.

Front Grounds

The estate is set back gracefully on nearly one acre, framed by a sweeping, manicured lawn that radiates sophistication and grandeur. Anchoring the front yard is a majestic, stately live oak, offering shade and an enduring sense of permanence. The grand limestone walkway, with its straight axis leading to an impressive front door, is flanked by clipped boxwood hedges and a bed of vibrant azaleas, adding a touch of formality and texture to the facade.

To the side, a charming porte-cochère paved in classic brick, and a motor court with brick pavers echo the symmetry and proportion of the home’s design. A thoughtfully integrated drop-off area from Armstrong Parkway ensures both convenience and elegance, allowing a seamless flow for vehicles to enter and exit gracefully onto Armstrong or Belfort Drive.

Rear Gardens and Pool Area

The rear landscape is a private oasis designed for both relaxation and entertainment. A stunning swimming pool and spa are positioned on axis with the home’s architecture, their surfaces adorned with vibrant cobalt blue tile, offering a bold yet classic aesthetic. Surrounding the pool is a unique and sophisticated colonial paving pattern created with conservation grass and cut stone, combining lush greenery with clean, timeless geometry. This innovative approach amplifies the visual appeal and provides a softer, more inviting surface.

Elegant Spanish tile accents and lush screening hedges frame the pool area, offering privacy and a harmonious connection to the estate’s architectural elements. Adjacent to the pool, a lower lawn area extends the property’s usability, offering a versatile space suitable for hosting grand events, setting up a pickleball court, or simply enjoying the serenity of a lush green expanse.
