4405 Glenwood Avenue, Dallas, Texas

Northern Hills Home in Turtle Creek Corridor

Both Paul Field, AIA, and Braxton Werner, AIA, worked in the office of award winning architect Gary Cunningham, FAIA, and were major contributors to some of his most important architectural work. Their experience with Gary Cunningham immersed them in the art of good design. Paul Field, who grew up in Canada, built houses in his youth and shares Braxton Werner’s interest in construction and design. Combining the pragmatic with the artful, Braxton Werner and Paul Field are mindful of successful modern precedents and strive for a design that is timeless and fresh.

Emphasizing a design that responds to the site, their homes can be as quiet as they are dramatic. The urban house pictured takes the giant oak tree as a starting point which propels a design that allows the house to be dominated by a leafy canopy and provides views down a street of towering trees. Opening up a wall of glass doors to the pool from the living areas and kitchen captures the sunlight and further accentuates a serene, protected environment in a relatively dense neighborhood. The execution of the finishes reflects their trust in the finest craftsmen who are allowed to create within the very tight parameters of the delineated plan. Braxton Werner’s and Paul Field’s collaboration with the homeowners, landscape architects, and contractors proves to be very successful.
