Turtle Creek Park Inspiration
This inspired modern home designed by architect Frank Welch expresses the best in a modern home. You will find it on an extraordinary site, in a fabulous neighborhood (Turtle Creek Park), and in a vibrant city (Dallas).
Embedded in a rugged natural environment, designed by architect Frank Welch, this modern home is embraced by trees and surrounded by the most enticing vibrancy of Dallas. The Katy Trail is right behind the home, connecting you to SMU, White Rock Lake, Trinity Groves and beyond. Turtle Creek, across the historic stone bridge at the end of the private drive, leads you through Highland Park in one direction and onto the Arts District in another. The best restaurants and shops are a stroll away.
Architecturally Significant Modern Home
The proportions of every space are pleasing, the views from every room exhilarating. One view has you looking into treetops, another view is over the creek to a backdrop of high-rise residences. Other views allow you to look down the private drive towards the stone bridge that takes you across Turtle Creek and the lovely park land. And yet another view brings into focus the second-story heated pool, terrace and trellis placed on top of the rock outcroppings of this modern home site.
Modern Design of Turtle Creek Park Home
The finest modern homes are often on a difficult site. This architecturally modern home is true to that thought. The rugged, forested hillside required the site had an equal voice with the talented architect and aesthetically brilliant client. Architect Frank Welch re-collated the conventional placement of the first, second and third floors connected by a graceful open tread stair and elevator, inviting you to ascend by the large windows and glass doors that open to an enticing pool and terrace placed over the rock outcropping on the hill. As you ascend, each floor becomes more important, imposing and delightful. The third floor has the highest ceilings with spacious defined spaces open and connected to the outdoor living spaces, including the balcony porch that opens to every room including the spectacular Bulthaup kitchen which is a destination in itself.
You will experience a high-rise modern vibe and view while living in an architecturally significant single-family modern home placed in nature. You will enjoy the peaceful calm that comes from being surrounded by the natural environment. Turtle Creek and the Katy Trail are the immediate perimeters of the property.
Modern Architect, Modern Clients
This architect-designed modern home and site will make you think you are not in Dallas and yet surprise you with the vibrancy of Dallas that you may not suspect the city had. Frank Welch was thrilled to design a modern home for sophisticated clients who knew good design and modern architecture. The client’s architectural knowledge and desires allowed Frank Welch to pursue and push Modernism and design a modern home everyone would admire and enjoy spending time in. This is a modern home and site that cannot be replicated.
Bulthaup Kitchen and Modern Home
Everything is bigger in Texas, so it should come as no surprise that when the home was built, this kitchen was the largest residential Bulthaup kitchen in North America. Everything is also better in Texas. The glimmering stainless-steel countertops and appliances almost illuminate the rich stained teak of the third-floor balcony that runs the length of the home and overlooks the forested Turtle Creek. Kitchen appliances include a Miele four-burner cook top with two gas grills, a Miele two-burner gas cooktop with wok burner and two induction cook tops, two Miele ovens with convection feature, two KitchenAid microwave ovens, Miele warming drawer, two Miele dishwashers, Miele coffee/espresso maker, SubZero refrigerators, SubZero refrigerator and freezer drawers, and two Bulthaup vent hoods. Maple front panels disguise many of these items. The modern design of this Bulthaup kitchen provides sophisticated culinary utility, clean modern lines and a sleek glimmer as the kitchen extends visually to the soft tones of the indoor and outdoor living spaces and the backdrop of nature.
