Bent Tree Neighborhood
Exclusive Neighborhood of Bent Tree
Bent Tree was developed as an exclusive neighborhood and was considered far North Dallas because the Tollway had not yet been extended.
Now the Tollway, close to Bent Tree, allows the residents to be at the symphony in the Dallas Arts District within 18 minutes.
Preston Trails Golf Club and Bent Tree County Club
John D. Murchison and Robert Folsom developed 700 acres, an area approximately half the size of Highland Park, with estate lots, fine homes and two prestigious clubs – Preston Trails Golf Club and Bent Tree Country Club. They used the same land planners and architects that designed the very successful Cloisters adjoining Lakewood at White Rock Lake.
Bent Tree Reemerges as One of Dallas Finest Neighborhoods
Bent Tree attracted a series of successful Dallas mayors, business titans and pro golfers. Highly regarded architects and builders designed and built spectacular residences. Architect Frank Welch, FAIA, designed a stunning, exquisite modern home for the Murchisons. James Nagel, FAIA, out of Chicago designed one of Dallas’ finest International Style homes on two acres, and two decades later Max Levy, FAIA, designed a modern home featured in numerous publications and received AIA awards in Dallas and by the state. In the last several years there has been a great reemergence of young families moving into the neighborhood who are retaining top architects and designers to renovate the existing homes.
